Affordability scorecards and audit trails

Configurable scorecards that credit committees can defend — version pins, overrides and dual approval.

Affordability and risk scorecards are how vehicle finance operators industrialise credit judgement without pretending that judgement is optional. The scorecard is not a magic score from a black-box bureau alone; it is your policy encoded — segments, weights, debt-review handling, dual cards, refer bands — with an audit trail a credit committee can defend.

Configurability without chaos

Books differ: private vs commercial use, asset bands, deposit strategies, dealer quality. Scorecards should be configurable per tenant and versioned so yesterday’s decision still explains itself after a policy change. Overrides need dual approval where policy requires, with reasons stored.

Bureau as input, not abdication

Bureau products (for example via Datanamix) feed decisioning but do not replace affordability analysis or human accountability. Consent, enquiry artefacts and product selection should be explicit. Live bureau calls are credential-dependent; non-production should not silently hit live bureaux.

Audit trails that survive scrutiny

For each decision, retain: inputs (with PII protected), scorecard version, component scores, outcome, actor, timestamps, and any override. POPIA-oriented operations also need human-review pathways for significant automated decisions — expand in POPIA and automated decisions.

From decision to contract

A score without a clean hand-off into contract generation wastes the control. Approved applications should flow into populated agreements and e-sign without re-keying. Declines should leave a coherent customer and audit state, not a deleted row.

Rent 2 treats scorecards as first-class configuration with execution and audit in the application lifecycle. See decisioning features, security, and book a walkthrough with your credit lead.
