Multi-tenant isolation for dealer-originated books
Why isolation is the primary control when one platform hosts many financiers and dealer seats.

Dealer-originated vehicle finance puts multiple parties on one platform: the financier (tenant), dealer users who introduce deals, sometimes branch staff, and customers on a portal. Isolation is the difference between a scalable SaaS and a data-incident waiting to happen.
Tenant isolation is the primary control
Every list, detail page and mutation must be scoped by tenant. Loading a record by ID without re-checking tenant ownership is a classic IDOR. Platforms should fail closed: no “helpful” global search across books, no shared credential bags, no dealer route fall-through for platform roles that would accidentally expose another channel.
Dealer seats are not junior admins
A dealer user should see their own pipeline and payouts — not the full book, not other dealers’ customers, not platform admin. Strict route firewalls (404 outside the dealer portal) are a product decision as much as a security one. Finance providers choose platforms that enforce this even when a curious user changes the URL.
Credentials and integrations per tenant
NetCash, bureau, e-sign and telematics secrets must be encrypted per tenant. Live vs stub behaviour should be env- and config-gated so one client’s production keys never bleed into another’s workspace or into shared logs.
Optional database RLS
Application-layer checks are mandatory; Postgres row-level security can add defence in depth. Neither replaces the other. Migrations and reporting jobs must still respect tenant boundaries.
Why marketing pages should talk about this
Buyers underwrite software risk the same way they underwrite credit risk. Vague “enterprise security” claims without isolation detail are weak. Prefer concrete statements: tenant-scoped actions, dealer firewall, encrypted credentials, automated authz tests. Rent 2 documents this posture on security and in the due diligence summary.
If you run multi-dealer origination today, bring a sample of your access matrix to a demo. The interesting conversation is not “do you have roles?” — it is “show me a dealer cannot open another dealer’s contract.”
